Arrival & Dismissal FAQ

What time does school begin and end?  
The school busses arrive at 8:30 A.M. The official school day begins at 8:45. If your child arrives after 8:45, please sign them in at the main office. The end of the school day is 3:00 P.M. and busses leave at 3:09.  

I plan on picking my child up from school. What do I need to do?  
If you choose to pick up your child from school, please arrive a few minutes before 3:00 P.M.  You will need to sign them out. At 3:00 P.M., all students who have been signed out will be called over the loud speaker and will meet you in the designated “pick-up” location.  

My child will not be taking his/her regular bus. What do I need to do?  
If your child is not going to ride home on his/her regular bus, if he/she is to meet you, walk home, or ride a bicycle, a NOTE from home with permission to make the change is required. It should be addressed to the teacher and should include the bus route and address of the child's destination.  

My child has a doctor appointment during the school day. What do I need to do?  
Written permission from home is required if your child is to be excused during the school day for doctor or dentist appointments. When you arrive at the school, please head to the main office and sign your child out. The office will contact the classroom teacher to have your child meet you.

 Lunch & Recess FAQ

What time is lunch and recess?
Kindergarteners go to recess at 11:20 and eat lunch in the cafeteria afterwards. Lunch ends at 12:15.

Do the children go outside for recess?
Yes, the children will go outside for recess most days.  It is important that your child is dressed for the weather by wearing appropriate clothing (hats, gloves, jackets, etc.).  During the winter, your child will have the option of playing in the snow if they bring in snow pants and boots.

How much does school lunch cost?  
School lunch costs $2.25.

What is MySchoolBucks and where can I learn more information about it?
MySchoolBucks is a secure online account where parents can deposit money by using a charge card, debit card, or paypal. MySchoolBucks works like a debit account but without the debit card.  This site can also be used to pay for other things like play tickets. If you encounter any problems, contact crivenburg@voorhessville.org for any assistance. 

Are there any other choices than what is offered on the menu?
Yes, deli sandwiches (roast beef, ham, or turkey), soup of the day, and salads (chef, Caesar, tossed, and fruit) are available daily.
